Jim Macaluso - Technical Lead

Jim has over 26 years as an information technology professional, roles have included: client, workplace and mobile technology design & engineering management, application development management, hardware/software lifecycle management, alternative work/telecommuting programs, technology strategy/planning, and project management.

Jim is an information technology leader experienced in defining business problems, and developing solutions through creative engineering and maximizing profitability through the strategic application of technology. His strengths include the ability to manage and develop a geographically dispersed and remote workforce to create and deliver innovative and cost effective technology solutions.

Jim has supported various efforts to define and implement technology to support flexible work initiatives. He has direct experience successfully managing a workforce that is both geographically dispersed (San Francisco, Pleasanton, Phoenix, Austin, Denver, and Indianapolis) and works from outside the corporate network. Recently, Jim and his team were involved in providing technology recommendations to support Charles Schwab's office sharing and flex work program. This included migrating participants from office technology to platforms that were more appropriate for remote work and hoteling facilities.

Jim has a degree in Business Administration from California State University at Sacramento and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Jim's areas of expertise include:

Technical Assessment: Jim has managed the development and evolution of client, workplace and remote access technologies to support telecommuting and other alternate work arrangements. This includes both hardware and software ((e.g., VPN, phone systems, IM video-conferencing, desktop sharing, and VoIP).

Information Technology Application: Jim's practical insights bolster TAG's proprietary Technology Assessment Protocol to ensure teleworkers experience a seamless transition to remote work. Jim has comprehensive, hands-on experience in designing and setting up virtual workplaces, including hoteling and other "third place" locations (including training labs).

Web Portal Design: Jim specializes in developing the web portal areas related to technology (deployment of equipment, reservation systems, etc.) to facilitate program implementation.
